“Earle Street has several officers directing traffic at the red light on North Main. We usually start on one end and travel down and back up the other side. They have so many decorated houses, fire breathers, singers, bands, games, and other fun stuff at each house.

Parents: bring a trash bag to help pick up the discarded wrappers and random trash that inevitably happens when we visit neighboring communities for better loot. We live in a rural area and go to local subdivisions and noticed the residents are SUPER appreciative if you help out a bit and don’t leave their neighborhoods trashed.

I once noticed something being done and have now started doing it when we visit other neighborhoods on Halloween. I bring glow necklaces and bracelets to hand out to kids walking past us trick or treating. It helps keep kids safe, we’re helping to contribute to the loot of trick-or-treaters in a non-allergenic way, PLUS everyone loves glo-sticks!

Spartanburg Humane Society: President and CEO Angel Cox said Sunday that the shelter has partial power and hopes to have full power restored soon and hope to resume adoption services soon. However, they are low on supplies.

Spartanburg Humane Society needs cat food, dog food, cat litter, and newspapers. Supplies can be delivered to 150 Dexter Rd. in Spartanburg.

USC Upstate: "Facilities, campus safety, food services, and housing need extra support. If anyone can help, please call or text Dr. Tierney Bates at +1 (330) 701-1914. He will direct you to the service area where your assistance would be most valuable," Chancellor Bennie Harris said. "We sincerely appreciate all help during this challenging time."

The college needs toilet paper, water, flashlights, paper towels, first aid supplies, hygiene supplies, and batteries. Anyone who can bring supplies should bring them to the Palmetto House (470 Hodge Dr., Spartanburg, SC).

United Way of the Piedmont has set up an online donation fund.

United Way of Greenville County is taking donations at their office (105 Edinburgh Court, Greenville) from 10am–4pm, Monday–Saturday, according to a social media post. Needed items include canned goods, especially pop-tops, boxed meals, peanut butter and protein bars, bottled water, sports drinks, diapers, baby wipes, baby formulas, hygiene products, first aid supplies, and cleaning supplies.

Spartanburg County Foundation has set up a Spartanburg County Relief Fund that can be donated to online at bit.ly/SPCFRelief or by mail or in-person at 424 E. Kennedy St., Spartanburg, SC 29302 with checks made payable to Spartanburg County Disaster Relief Fund.

East Pickens Baptist Church (2244 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens) is collecting donations for Pickens County. Donations of pet food, baby food, formula, diapers and wipes are needed. Volunteers will be on site until 8 p.m. Wednesday and return 8 a.m. Thursday.
